As there is no cancelling effect in case of a cable with single core, the voltage gets induced in the armour through the conductor’s surrounding magnetic field. To make sure that there is no problem, a one-conductor metal cable that have lead, stainless steel, copper, or aluminium armours has to be bonded to the ground, generally done at the source end.
