November is the month of good food, family time, and amazing deals! Not only do you have Black Friday to look forward to, but with the rise of internet boutiques and the number of businesses online, we also have “Cyber Monday” to look forward to. Cyber Monday is the Monday after Black Friday where internet stores put on a huge sale with deals on the latest in anything you can think of. Over the years, more and more stores have been participating in driving the supply and demand through the roof. I know what you’re thinking. Whew! No more standing in checkout lines. That makes sense. But trust me, this day may seem less hectic because you can shop from your computer or smartphone, but the checkout line is just as cutthroat. If you are thinking about holding an item in your cart while you think about it… Don’t! You may be able to hold an item in a physical cart at a brick and mortar store, but online everything is fair game. I learned this first hand when I was shopping online. I was checking out and what do you know! One of the items I had in my cart disappeared because someone made up their mind faster than I did or they were simply quicker on the keyboard. Ahem… H&M. With all of that frustration online, not just wait in line at the stores. Well, the thing is a lot of stores have gotten really sneaky. Some stores have exclusive deals that they only share online. So yes, the same store can have a deal online that they don’t have in stores, forcing you to go online to buy the items you like. See… sneaky little retailers. But that’s okay, it's business and it’s a win-win. You get the discounts and they get the online traffic they desire. You can look forward to almost every store with an online presence to have a sale. Mega-stores like Amazon, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy tend to never disappoint when it comes to buying electronics, home goods, toys and everything in between. But if you are looking for shoes and other fashion items, surf the pages of stores like Zara, Aldo, Nordstrom, Express, and H&M. Other smaller boutiques like Fashion Nova and Lola Shoetique, two popular boutiques in Los Angeles, are great sites as well for unique finds at already low prices. And who doesn’t like sales on items that, to begin with? Everyone. The answer is everyone! One thing we can all learn from this is that no matter if you are in a line or online, in order to navigate this mega-sale, you need a game plan. Just like you need a game plan for other big sale days. Start with a great (not good) internet connection, make sure you have more than one browser up so you can quickly compare items at the click of a mouse, move quickly through the site so you don’t miss out on any merchandise, search for what it is you need before you browse, and don’t hold onto items while you think. If you change your mind you can always return something. Be swift and decisive people. This is game day, not a practice run!
