The Titleist 913 D2 Driver is bigger, better and importantly more forgiving than the 910 D2. The big head makes hitting the ball straight a doddle and the club even has a slight draw bias to help prevent the disastrous fade. "The new 913D2 and 913D3 drivers offer the highest performance of any adjustable drivers on the market, particularly when it comes to speed and forgiveness," said Titleist Vice Preisdent of Research and Development Dan Stone. "Every serious golfer, from tour players to amateurs of all skill levels, will experience more distance potential and better driving performance with 913." As before, the two different models are aimed at different groups of golfers. The D2 comes in with a full pear-shaped, 460cc head for more forgiveness, while the Discount Titleist 913 D3 Driver is a slightly smaller, 445cc traditional pear shape offering more workability to the better golfer. However, this year, both models have the same launch and spin characteristics to provide maximum fitting flexibility. The company achieved this through a new variable thickness face insert. The insert is forged out of 6-4 titanium. The insert is thickest in the center as it mirrors the outer face profile. As you move out from the center the face becomes thinner and tapered so that it matches up with the body thickness at the face perimeter. In my view, the 913 driver is a nice evolutionary step in drivers, and it's sure to appeal to fans of Titleist drivers as well as fans of solid performing drivers that match the best of what technology in 2013 has to offer.
