The year 2012 was marked as the year for the starting year for retirement for the baby boomers. The baby boomers are those people who were born post World War II and a statistical report said that everyday 10,000 baby boomers will retire. This is a growing problem as people are becoming concerned where they are going to live to now. Most people who are retiring often end up in a dilemma where they are going to stay, as they know their children cannot give them enough company due to their different lifestyle. Today there are many options but the best being the independent living or assisted living, as the aged nursing homes are for the disabled. Many people prefer going for the assisted living as they do not need constant care but need some kind of support. These units generally take care of senior citizen’s daily needs like laundry, housekeeping, cooking, medications and so on. In simple words health, safety as well as their well being is closely monitored. These units arrange recreational activities for them so they do not feel bored. The biggest problem with the assisted living units is they charge hefty fees that too in a monthly basis. This is obviously a big issue problem as after retirement most of the elders face a cash crunch. Moreover their lives here are controlled by the age care consultants without much of their own independence. A much better option is available is the independent living today better known as the retirement living villages. These units are apt for the elder who love independence and wants to enjoy their lives by relaxing in peaceful ambiances. Generally these villages are planned and designed by the Retirement Living Consultants keeping in mind the requirements of the elders. The most beneficial aspect of the retirement villages is that they generally charge annually or in some cases the elders can buy villas or cottages here as per their own budget. These villages have swimming pools, gyms, community halls to keep the elders engaged. The elders arranged games, dinner parties, and outings as well work within the village which makes them independent and happy. Moreover there are medical facilities available 24/7 as well as care givers if required anytime. The retirement villages provide all the facilities to the senior citizens required in their day to day lives as well as give them a scope to live their lives independently. Earlier the elders have no choice but to stay with their children, living a lonely life as they could not cope with their fast life. But today the aged have plenty of retirement living options giving them to live a better and independent life.
