If you’ve hit the age of retirement, it’s time to decide how you’ll spend the next few years. With retirement communities, nursing homes, and independent care facilities all available, it’s difficult to know what the right step for you is. Whether you decide to retire in Pebblecreek homes or you’re in need of continuing care, it’s important to educate yourself on the different options available to you. Senior Apartments If you want to be surrounded by those in a similar stage of life but don’t have a big budget, a senior apartment might be the way to go. These communities usually involve various apartment complexes. In some cases, there may be a few shared common areas like pools or courtyards. The communities are maintained by a hired staff. Traditionally, senior apartments don’t offer special amenities like transportation or activities. 55 and Older Communities These types of communities are usually made up of single family homes. There is an age limit in order to buy or rent a home within their boundaries. Whether the age limit is 55 or 65, this type of community is perfect for those looking to enjoy their time with those in similar life circumstances. These communities often have scheduled activities. Maintenance may or may not be offered by the staff. Continuing Care Communities This type of retirement community is a full-service option. While the housing options vary, residents can choose to have meals delivered, transportation arranged, and housekeeping or laundry completed. On-site health care is also usually offered. In the event that your health begins to deteriorate, memory care or access to skilled nurses is available. With many amenities like bistros, theaters, and salons offered, this is type of community offers the entire package Independent Living Those who opt for an independent living community are physically able to care for themselves. Their health is not failing them in any way. Instead, they are able to hire out housekeeping, meal prep, and driving services. Typically, a monthly fee is assessed each month based on the services each resident wants. There are usually many different activities available to residents. When trying to decide how you want to enjoy your golden years, it’s important to assess your needs and budget before continuing, and then take the time to tour different communities. Whether you choose to retire in Pebblecreek homes or a different type of community, make sure that it’s a place you’ll be able to enjoy your hard-earned years in retirement.
