Fun for all the Family in a Catered Ski Chalet in La Rosière

Blogs,Sports,Travel & Tourism
La Rosière is one of those places that is often overlooked as a ski resort. While many avid skiers head to the neighbouring hub of Les Arcs, with its bustling slopes and trendy bars, families looking for a catered ski chalet experience more suited to younger guests will not be disappointed with this hidden gem. The resort is quiet both on and off the slopes and is often visited by local French families, which makes it a more authentic experience for your children too. Joined by La Thuile across the Italian border, La Rosière has an excellent snow record (it sits at 1850m) and is very reasonably priced compared to many of the other more famous Alpine destinations; your catered ski chalet doesn’t need to cost the earth.

Fun For Families On Piste

There are lots of gentle slopes in this resort, perfect for getting your kids more confident on their skis. In fact, almost half of the runs here are suitable for beginners, and even the red runs are quite easy, making them the ideal progression for children who want more of a challenge. Children will love the forest fun parks, both of which have a St Bernard theme (this resort is part of the Espace San Bernard area). As the children whizz through the parks they can hit the bells with their poles and the younger children will enjoy the narrow tunnel that is shaped like a dog’s mouth - it’s a tight squeeze but the little ones will no doubt think it’s wonderful. The funcrosss circuit is another popular on slope activity for the kids, but the definitive highlight is being able to ski across and into Italy for a pizza lunch without even having to show your passport!

Off Slope Action

Skiing can be exhausting, especially if you have very young children, so it is always good to offer the kids a wide range of activities so they don’t get bored. Boredom is something they won’t experience in La Rosière as, even when off the mountain, there is so much to do. You don’t have to go far from your catered ski chalet to have a snow ball fight for example, or why not head into town for one of the free organised events? The kids can toast marshmallows on the firepits, watch magic shows or even join a night time hike to go stargazing. For bigger adventures, you can take them dog sledding or let them have a go at indoor climbing. Ice-skating is always fun and going to an ice hockey match is a great activity that everyone can join in. It’s hard to believe that such a small, understated village has such an array of activities on and off the slopes. There is also a good selection of restaurants and cafes, so when you are not eating in your catered ski chalet, you know you will always be able to get the kids fed. If you’re looking to take your next family trip to the Alps, this article may have inspired you to try the gorgeous village of La Rosière. When booking your next catered ski chalet holiday, choosing a reputable travel company to organise the details for you is highly recommended. Let the experts take care of the logistics while you look forward to the fun and frolics on and off the slopes.
