Seats in this section will offer additional legroom and room to recline at an added cost ranging from $80 to $160 each way. Seat holders will also be entitled to board early and enjoy free alcoholic drinks during the flight. Premium economy seats will be located first few rows of coach. They will be comparable to the premium coach seats offered by Delta’s partner Air France-KLM. Those seats offer as much as six inches of extra legroom. Delta expects passengers looking for more comfort to be interested in their new premium seats as well as business travelers who used to fly business class but have started purchasing coach class seats to save money as a result of the recession. Offering premium coach seats for a fee is something other airlines are already pursuing, including United Airlines and Virgin Atlantic. Delta has observed that their business class sales are increasing and to meet this growing demand Delta is adding more upgraded seats for them. Delta will install 34 flat bed Business Elite seats in 32 A330 aircraft over the next two years. Once this is completed Delta will offer Business class seats that convert to beds on all of its large international planes.
