Having had resounding successes with previous competitions, a bigger and better event has been planned for the 2011 / 2012 season. The event, confined to Asian locations, is held under the rules of the world kite boarding governing body IKA over the Asian winter / monsoon season that guarantees great gusts of wind to send the riders on their way. It is open to male and female riders. Prizes are awarded to both sexes for the main disciplines and for selected random events. It has been enthusiastically embraced as an extreme sport in Asian countries such as Japan, Vietnam, Philippines and Hong Kong. The 2011 / 2012 event kicked off in Malaysia in Nov / Dec and will continue on to Vietnam in Jan 2012, to Thailand in February and will move to the Philippines in March for the Asian Speed Championships, thereafter to Taiwan in April and is expected to conclude in Sri Lanka in May. The events this season are taking place in tried and tested as well as new venues. Events for the 2011/12 season include the course racing and speed events that are being introduced for the first time. In addition to competitions, great training opportunities will be provided for competition and skill building by former champions.
