France is one of the most popular holiday destinations for British tourists. This may be because of its close proximity to the UK and the relatively pain-free journey that it takes to get there. However, it is more likely to because it is a huge country that has some much variety to offer. Whether you go north or south, summer or winter, France has got something incredible to offer to anyone. Here is our opinion on the top five cities in the country: • Paris – This may seem like an obvious choice, and it really is. There is no point trying to be original when there really is no denying that this city has absolutely everything that you could ever wish for: Incredible architecture; from art galleries to churches and the Eiffel tower. Amazing shopping, with all the most sort after names on the high street. Incredible people with a diversity that is second to none. There is literally too much to do in Paris, so if there is one piece of advice for a trip to a city, it is to go for a week. A weekend really cannot do it justice, and you really don’t want to be rushing around when there are beautiful sites to take in. • Marseille – The second largest city in France. This is a place where it is enough to simply stroll the streets and soak up the atmosphere. There are many cultural attractions, however the best way to truly experience the city is to take your time and witness what a real French city is like. • Bordeaux – If you are a fan of wine then this is the city for you. Bordeaux is rated by wine connoisseurs as one of the best outlets of wine in the world. If this does not do enough to entertain you then you can take a guided tour of the city which will allow you to feast your eyes on some fantastic city centre attractions. • Lourdes – Like Catholic Mecca, thousands of Christians descend upon Lourdes each year to try the holy water and to pay homage to the spot where the Blessed Virgin Mary was witnessed. If you are not religious, however, do not be put off from going as it truly is a wonderful sight. • Nice – For our final city we head down to the south coast where the weather is unbelievable. Soak up the rays on the beach and check out some of the most extravagant boats and yachts none to man. If your heading to France on business for a special event (èvènement spécial) take a look at some of the conference rooms (salles de conference) that area available.
