Staying at a Leh guest house Leh lies in the Leh district of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the northern most part of the country. It was formerly a capital of Ladakh. It is area wise the second largest district in the country. It is connected to the tourist spot Manali with the Leh Manali Highway and the important city Srinagar with the National Highway D1. Leh is famous for its natural beauty and Buddhist temples. The famous Shanti stupa is located here. It also houses several important landmarks such as the Victory tower, War museum, Sankar Gompa, the Zorawar Fort and others. Also there are trekking trails that remain active with adventurous tourists almost throughout the year. Leh has several affordable and luxurious guest houses to accommodate its tourists. A typical Leh guest house provides with all the necessary amenities and world class facilities for its tourists. Most of the accommodations are run by family and hence they are more friendly than professional. This gives an added hospitable touch to these guest houses. Their hospitality is more personal than the regular professional norms. The guest houses are categorized into lower, medium and upper class according to the budget ranges. The guest house is a not very formal facility for the tourists. They are treated as a home stay and they can also share a common kitchen with the other guests. This method of stay makes the experience of Leh a more personalized one. The tourists get an insight into the regular life of a basic Leh resident. Hence, they give a more personal touch to the overall stay. Also, the tariff ranges can be a bare minimum to a not so high range depending upon the arrangement of the amenities. In Leh, there are also many Tourist bungalows that are run by the government. They can be afforded in a mid budget range but getting a room in one of these is quite difficult if the rooms are not confirmed after booking. Such government run bungalows are found mostly along the Srinagar to Leh Highway road. Mostly during the period of June to September, Leh attracts a large number of tourists due to the favorable climate here in those days. It is advised to get the rooms booked and confirmed before setting out for Leh in those days, as the hotels remain much crowded during peak seasons. Also, for those who plan to stay at Leh during winters, it is advised to get the prior arrangements done so that the heating amenities and facilities can be provided by the guest houses easily. For an economically feasible Leh guest house the charges for single bed rooms starts from approximately INR 130 per day.
