Most vacation places in the world cater to both budget and expensive holidays, but if you want exotic luxury, there are some that do it better than others. The Caribbean is one of those vacation destinations and St Lucia is at the top of the list. An example of upper-crust Caribbean, it is an island made up of mountains and volcanoes and surrounded by rich golden sand, sheltered by a coral reef which plays host to a myriad of magnificent marine life. It is the sort of vacation place that holiday makers to the Caribbean dream about, a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown. Renting out a vacation house here could be magic. It is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide and located midway down the Eastern Caribbean chain, just north of Barbados, with a shape that resembles a mango, and which is flanked by the Atlantic Ocean on the eastern shores, and the calm Caribbean Seas on the west. Its dramatic twin costal peaks, which soar 2,000 feet up from the sea, shelter magnificent rain-forests where brilliantly-plumed tropical birds of paradise and wild orchids flourish, and which are broken only by orchards of banana, coconut, and mango trees. The island is dotted with small gem-like fishing villages and open-air markets, as well as fashionable bars and restaurants. For such a small island it has a large variety of excellent cuisine with many different types of restaurants offering stunning, romantic candle-lit dinners and sophisticated ambiance, with the island’s natural beauty always providing a sensory backdrop to complement the palate, making it a perfect luxury vacation destination. St. Lucia has been inhabited since long before colonial times, and the island's people have earned a well-deserved reputation for their warmth and charm, hence it being a most popular vacation place. There is a broad array of exciting holiday activities on offer – the coral reefs present excellent scuba diving and snorkeling opportunities and the crystal clear waters mean good visibility, whilst the rainforests can be seen through one of the various hiking tours in existence. There are also a number of stunning golf courses, tennis courts, and also sailing yachts for hire. The island has a multitude of festive events, from the inevitable carnival and various Calypso celebrations, to world-class tennis competitions and weekly street parties, but the one to aim for, if you’re a music lover, is the St Lucia jazz Festival, a four-day extravaganza from the 8th-11th May which attracts some of the world’s best performers and would make for a perfect time to take your holiday in. Renting a luxurious vacation house here and sampling the natural delights of this magical little isle in all its luxurious splendor could be the most memorable vacations of your life.
