You can choose to pass or add another card, with the goal of getting as close to 21 as possible without going over so you can beat the dealer’s hand. These actions signal the dealer, as the dealer will not react to words alone. What happens when you win or lose a hand? When you win a hand, you keep your original bet and you win the same amount from the dealer (if you bet $10, you win $10). If you happen to get a natural blackjack, which is a total of 21 in your first two cards, you win 1.5 times the bet, so you would keep your original $10 and earn an additional $15. When you lose, your $10 bet is taken by the dealer.
