Creativity and ingenuity are at the core of every blog on the World Wide Web. These are the reasons also why you are drawn in a particular blog aside from being a blogger yourself. To say that your blog stinks may be too harsh a word. However, you might be practicing these blogging practices that proves that your blog does indeed stink. Are you guilty of doing any of these? 1.You post irregularly on your blog. The best way to keep your blog readers hooked is by making sure that you have regular content for them to read. If you update your blog quite sporadically, how would you establish a strong readership? If you tend to go on a long vacation in terms of your blog posting, there is no incentive for your readers to come back to your page. Sporadic posting can easily make your blog extinct and you would not want that to happens. To avoid a stinky and irregularly updated blog, why not create a regular posting schedule? Committ to this schedule with content that is interesting and engaging for your readers. In blogging, quantity of your posts is not the qualifier. The quality of your content is. 2.You promote too much. Too much self-promotion can be a major turn off . Whether you promote yourself too much or the products or services that you sell, at the end of the day, no one wants a self-promoter. All they need to do is click on the X button on their browser and make sure not to visit your blog ever again. Ultimately, there is a friendly and acceptable way of using your blog as a marketing platform. Every now and then, write about the benefits of a service that you are offering. Discuss relevant features of the product that you are selling. Plug in contests every once in a while to keep your blog’s value high in the search engines. Just make sure not to use your blog as a pulpit for your promotional requirements. Even in blogs, it is best to keep everything in moderation. 3.You do not reply to your comments. In blogging, everything is done ever so virtually that it is easy to get misinterpreted. The comment section in your blog is the only way for you to engage with your readers (aside from your Twitter or Facebook account, of course) and so if you do not reply to your readers’ comments, it sends quite an unfavourable image. Make it a point to return the favour to your readers by dedicating time to respond. If they have given time in reading and commenting on your blog, make sure to return the favour with a reply. Not replying to your readers’ comments even if it is a critique on what you have posted is an easy way to lose readers. You lose your opportunity to engage with them. Invest time in keeping your blog interesting and worth the time of your readers. At the end of the day, it does not take so much to keep your readers hooked and constantly engaging with you. Post regularly, stay away from being too self-indulgent and make it a point to engage with your readers in every way you can.
