A good quality banner can make the advertisement more professional and eye catching to the people. Banners are a great way to make publicity your products. Banner advertisement is perhaps the oldest and the most effective way of advertising in the world. They spread promotional messages of the company’s products.

There are some main reasons for creating online or offline advertising campaign: • Creating more leads and sales • Building brand awareness • Increasing website traffic • Promotion of new products • Achieving the business targets by attracting more customers

There are some types of web and offline advertisements. With the advancement of technology, new modes of banner ads have appeared in scene. The web advertisements may be of several forms like: • Animated: These are large banners containing images and designs. • Interstitial: These appear in pop up windows with the website. • Drop down menu: Embedded HTML allows user to see ads from drop down menu. • Java, flash and shockwave: These ads float over content of website. • Unicast: These are just like TV ads, which run in a separate window.

Banners are mostly made attractive and appealing. The design is made in such a way that it is legible by most of the users and can be seen through a distance. There are many options, designing and formats available for online advertisements.

Banners come in high ranges and sizes. One of the advantages of running banners on internet is that it is a good option for promotion of search engine purposes. There are standard sizes for internet banners. If you are considering using banners and embarking on the designing stage, take care of some important points and you will be on a way to successful campaign. • Banner file sizes: You can create the best looking banner in the world, but if it is too heavy, nobody is going to hang on, waiting for your banner. The maximum size of a banner should be 25MB, but it should be made of the small size, as much possible. • Use animation: Animation attracts attention. It should be simple and on the same note, it needs to be attractive. The banner competes with the other elements of the website and hence it needs to be different. • Design should be simple: The font, style and design should be simple to ensure that the ads are easily accessible and can be read easily. • ‘Alert’ banner designs: These designs are used to show some very catchy or promotional news or product promotions. The click rate of these type of banners, are excellent. • Flash banners: The banners are always according to the target audience. Flash banners are used for some highly influencing sectors like fashion, tags etc.

Web banners function the same way as long-established advertisements are planned to function i.e. notifying customers about some services and illustrating reasons why the consumer should choose the product or services. Web banners differ in that the results for personal ad campaigns as web ads may be monitored concurrently and targeted to the viewer's interests.
