Because of the publicity about the benefits of Omega 3 in the media, a lot of people want to know, what are the Omega 3 sources. Sadly there are not the same amount of food around that is rich in fatty acids. However I will try and tell you the best sources that I know of obtaining an adequate amount of Omega 3 in your food. Once we used to obtain all of our daily needs of Omega 3 fats from the two or three meals of fish we consumed every week. Now however with the oceans and the fish being so full of pollution, we can no longer consume so much fish. It is just not safe to do so. Now we must meet our needs of Omega 3 sources from taking an Omega 3 supplement each day. We used to obtain all of our Omega 3 sources from the daily food we ate. Now, because of the modern day farming practices, they feed their animals grain instead of grass. The meat is low in Omega 3 fats. Some farmers are selling grass fed meat at the farmers markets. You pay a higher price, but the fact that it is healthier as well as tastier makes it worthwhile. There is more grass fed meat being grown all of the time, as the farmers try to meet the demands of the public for healthier meat. You can buy free range eggs, as well as duck eggs at the farmers markets. As well as organic vegetables. There is bound to be a farmers market near you, look in the local papers, they do advertise in them. Just be aware, that even some of the fish you buy today is farmed. Some of the salmon even have their flesh injected with a dye, to give it the pink color we are used to. These fish are fed pellets and they are low in the Omega 3 fatty acids too. The Omega 3 sources are getting harder to find. If it was not for Omega 3 fish oil we would not be getting our essential daily fatty acids. I hope that this article has been of some benefit to you.
