Many of us do not eat well enough to ensure that our bodies get all the minerals and vitamins necessary to maintain good health. The good news is that those of us that can’t manage to eat at fixed schedules or even eat a healthy diet, are now able to substitute all the vitamins and minerals we miss out on, with those provided by health supplements. Many of you don’t know this, but there are two kinds of health supplements: The first category, herbal supplements, are mostly used for diets and improving general health while the second category, nutritional health supplements, are used as a means of providing the human body with vitamin B, vitamin C, and other vitamins along with much needed minerals and other compounds. Thinking that health supplements are only needed when an individual cannot consume enough healthy food is essentially correct but what many people do not realise is that we cannot be absolutely sure with regards to whether a food is truly healthy or not. The quality of the food is strongly related to the quality of the soil it was grown in. The notion of unhealthy food comes from the fact that farmers enrich their soil with a range of chemicals and health damaging fertilizers that make food look great but impair the quality and purity. The down sides are numerous: The chemicals introduced into the soil not only pose a hazard to the health of those consuming foods grown on that land, but also much of this food is found to be rather tasteless and bereft of the vitamins and minerals we need. Even some of the seemingly healthiest foods available are not quite as nutritious as we might think in many cases simply because of the length of time some items of food spend on the road during the delivery process. This might come as a surprise but even the fruit being produced in warm countries which specialise in their production and that do not use any chemicals and fertilizers is not completely safe and healthy due to the protracted shipping delays. In many cases such food needs to be picked early, sometimes this means before they are ripe. Of course much of this food is sprayed with preservatives to ensure it do not deteriorate during the trip. We simply cannot afford to starve our bodies of all the necessary minerals and other vitamins regardless of how healthily we think we eat. The sheer number of health supplements available on the market today should convince us of their importance to our bodies but many people still think that we do not need health supplements if we have a healthy diet. Of course the reality is that it is not quite as simple as this. No matter how well you eat, it is extremely difficult to be certain that you are getting all the important vitamins, minerals and other vitamins and compounds which emphasises the need to support your diet with appropriate health supplements.
