Here are some of these common mistakes: Noun and pronoun use Nouns are names, common or proper, that are the subjects of a sentence. It can be names of persons, things, places and the like. Pronouns, on the other hand, are substitutes for nouns. It wouldn’t look good if nouns are repeated in the paragraph over and over again. Pronouns take the place of nouns to avoid this eye sore. However, many article writers commit the mistake of using pronouns alone in a paragraph. In the end, vague referents become apparent. This causes confusion to your readers. Consistency in point of view When creating an article, there is always a point of view used by the article writer. It can be first person or third person view. Points of view help out in making the essay more understandable. The problem with most writers is that they are inconsistent in the use of the voices. When using first person, use only first person point of view. The same thing goes for the third person. Punctuation use Using punctuation is a basic knowledge requirement in constructing good sentences. Period is used to end a declarative sentence. Question marks are used in a sentence posing a question. Quotation marks are for quoting direct statements from another speaker. Exclamation points are used to express sudden emotions. Misuse in punctuations will result in portraying a different idea than what the writer wants to actually say. Sentence Construction This is one of the things that sound easy for writers. However, there are writers who get too carried away and incorporate too many thoughts in a single sentence. Just like the misuse in punctuation, complexity in sentences can cause confusion. There are many mistakes that an article writer can commit. The best weapon against this is to do proofreading once the article writing process is finished.
