4 Actions to Build Dollar Store Sales for your Store

When you start a dollar store you will discover there are many ways to build your dollar store sale levels ever-higher. These include advertising on television, radio and in newspapers. It also includes adding sales and other events. Yet with so many choices available many store owners do not take action. They allow chance to become the driver of the sales level for their stores. Don’t fall into this habit. When you start a dollar store be sure to develop a list of specific actions you will take to continually build sales to ever-higher levels. In this article I present 4 specific actions to take to build sales for your store.

#1) Join local groups and organizations. When you start a dollar store begin by joining your area Chamber of Commerce. Then add trade groups, and other business and community organizations and associations to the list. You must be a regular attendee to gain maximum results. Be sure to exchange business cards with all new attendees at every meeting. Ask for opportunities to speak to the group and share the details about your dollar store. The impact on dollar store sales from a speaking engagement can be significant.

#2) Become involved with community events. It doesn’t matter whether it is community parades, picnics or other events. It is important to connect with your community. Get involved in the ways that best align to your business. It might be through donations of prizes for contests, marching in a parade, or sponsoring an event. All present your business in a very positive way to current and potential shoppers.

#3) Network with surrounding businesses. Get to know the businesses in the immediate vicinity of your store. This serves not only to build sales through referrals, but knowing your neighboring businesses can work much like a neighborhood watch. Business can look out for the safety of each other’s employees. They can also share safety and security tips, and much more. It takes very little effort to visit a few of your neighboring businesses each week. The rewards can be significant.

#4) Focus on local schools. Provide a small discount for local teachers who shop in your store. Build good will be donating prizes, beverages and treats to local school events. The word will get out about your willingness to help. Your reward will be feeling you really helped. But there is more; you will see more traffic coming into your store and the resulting higher dollar store sale levels.
