When it is time to book a truly outstanding holiday, don't settle for just any lodging. While it might seem easy to stay with one of the tried-and-true hotel chains, you can create a much more memorable experience by staying at an unusual property. For an incomparable view of Rotterdam in the Netherlands, book a night in one of the two luxury suites in the Euromast tower. Your accommodations are located 100 metres high atop a former television tower, and you can choose from the south-facing Heaven suite, with a rain shower, or the north-facing Stars suite, complete with a jacuzzi tub. Both suites feature a bottle of champagne upon your arrival and a full breakfast in the morning. The Jules Undersea Lodge in Key Largo, Florida is the original resort that is actually located underwater, although several underwater hotels have now followed in imitation. Open to Scuba divers and non-divers alike, the accommodations feature air conditioning, a well-stocked galley, hot showers, and unlimited diving. For the ultimate in mobile travel, the Sao-Paulo-based Exploranter hotel on wheels tours throughout Brazil, Chile, and Argentina. On board the 25-ton Exploranter, guests enjoy hot showers, meals prepared by a gourmet chef, and 28 beds. Popular with private parties, the Exploranter often stops to visit local vineyards or to let guests enjoy hot air balloon rides. Switzerland's Whitepod Resort, located in the alpine village of Les Cerniers, is an environmentally-harmonious chalet surrounded by 15 geodesic-dome pods. The pods, which collectively are known as the Whitepod camp, each boast organic luxury bedding, a wood-burning stove, and a full bathroom. In the winter months, Whitepod guests enjoy the 7 kilometres of adjoining ski pistes. The Icehotel in Swedish Lapland is literally the coolest hotel on the planet. The first and largest of several hotels built entirely from snow and ice, the Icehotel is constructed anew by artists each winter. Guests can book accommodations from December through April, although the closing date is dependent on the local weather. If bundling up to stay in a cold room at the Icehotel sounds chilly, guests may prefer to stay in warmer quarters in a nearby chalet and dine at one of the Icehotel's fine restaurants.
