The peacoat is an essential piece of outerwear for any man or woman. Year in and year out, there are a lot of fads and trends that hit the backs of the young and trendy - but let's face it, these trends have the equivalent shelf life of milk. But classics, like the peacoat, will never go out of style. Twenty or even thirty years from now you can be sure that this fab jacket will be as fabulous as it is today. So for all you men out there, if you are in need of a piece of clothing that will prevent you from going shopping for a new coat every season, then a classic peacoat is the perfect alternative - it can possibly be the greatest fashion investment you will ever make. With all that said, here are some tips on finding your perfect peacoat. 1. Finding the ideal shape Just like women's clothing, men's clothing is just as good as the man wearing it. Forget about wearing the most trendy coat, if it just makes you look ridiculous. Remember the fit of a jacket is key to pull off the perfect outfit. And although it may seem that all peacoats are one in the same, all with similar lengths and fits, it is simply not true. There are all sorts of coats that accommodate for all kinds of men. For example if you are a tall and lean fellow, you can probably pull off a coat that has a little bit of length to it, like one that goes past the knees. Also if you have this body build, a coat that is more fitted to the body would be a great option. There is nothing worse than a tall, lean man hiding his body with a shapeless, over sized jacket. So just look for a jacket with plenty of seaming or one that just seems to fit the body more. However if you are on the shorter side, the most vital advise I can give to you is to stay away from a long peacoat. This will only make you look even shorter, and I'm sure you don't want that. A good size would be a one that goes past the waist, but definitely nothing past the lower thigh. A shorter length peacoat will make you look proportioned and sometimes even taller! 2. Don't be afraid of color A lot of men, especially ones that don't care to bother about fashion are often too timid to try anything with color. Although a classic black lambswool peacoat can be worn with basically anything, there is a whole world of color out there. So if you are ready to think outside the box, why not think about color the next time you go coat shopping. Some great colors that you might find interesting are deep saturated hues of blue, red, tan and brown. Although they may not be the loudest of colors, they still pop way more than the boring black coat - and I'm sure you'll get noticed more too! 3. And don't forget texture! Another element that a lot of people, in general, don't think about is texture. But a little bit of texture to a coat makes all the difference in the world. An option that you might want to consider is a nylon peacoat. It might sound crazy, but there are amazing peacoats that are made of this light waterproof material. Also unheard of materials like waxed denim, which is a shiny processed denim that almost resembles leather, can make for an amazing looking coat. Brands like DKNY and Express have great men's peacoats that implement these amazing and unique materials. We all know that you men don't like to go shopping, so why not save the trouble and buy one great peacoat. It will not only save you time, but a lot of your money.
