Brisbane might not be what you would consider to be a historical city, but there is no denying that there is a long and interesting history behind it. Several buildings and monuments stand tall and proud till date, telling the stories of these very histories. Perhaps the best place to start any historic tours in the city of Brisbane would be from the Story Bridge. First opened in 1940, this bridge is still functional today and allows six lanes of traffic. You could easily drive your car hire in Brisbane, over this bridge and feel like you are being a part of history. There is also another great way of experiencing this bridge and that is by being a part of the Story Bridge Adventure Climb. First started in 2005, this climb takes you on top of the bridge and allows you a truly panoramic view of the city. Car rental in Brisbane is a great way to drive around town, looking at all the historical monuments of the city. You should definitely pay a visit to the City Hall, which is one of the most impressive buildings in town. The Clock Tower of this building has impressed and welcomed people for decades. Originally, this building was used as the city council, but today it houses the Museum of Brisbane. There are also levels available for hire for various social and official functions. If you have a car, you could also drive down to places like the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, were you can get one of the most spectacular views ever. The cliffs are also the favourite point for adventure junkies, who are interested in climbing and abseiling. This place also has a lot of history behind it, because this was the original area of inhabitation for the new settlers in the year 1843. There are several other buildings worth mention in the city of Brisbane, and these include the Newstead House and the Treasury Building – Casino. Both these places are amongst the oldest surviving buildings in the city. While Newstead House today is a popular destination for parties and events as well as a well-stocked museum; the Treasury Building – Casino is one of the best party destinations. The casino is now fitted with everything you would want from a good casino.
