I know that when I first started the process to organize my closet, it felt overwhelming. The clothes that I had shoved haphazardly into the closet and the pile of shoes on the floor looked like more than I wanted to tackle. So to make it easier, I just focused on getting one thing done at a time. I started by going through my clothes. To make it easier, you can start with just one section of your closet at a time. Just be sure to mark where you have left off so you do not end up duplicating your efforts. The purpose of going through your clothes is to decide what you actually wear and get rid of those things that you do not wear anymore. The next thing I did was figure out how I wanted to organize my closet. There are a lot of different ways that you can organize your closet: by color, by use, by season, and any other way that you can think of. I chose to organize my clothes by season and by use. So only those clothes that are in season are hanging in my closet. I also have them separated by use. Those that I use for work are separate from those that I use for casual use. For the clothes in my dresser and my shoes, I followed the same process that I described above. It has made it a lot easier to find the things that I need when I need them. Once I was able to organize my closet, I continued to keep on top of it. I go through and get rid of things in it at least every year.
