If you are starting wakeboarding then you will learn fastest if you have some equipment of your own to practice with. Not only because this will of course give you more time to practice without having to go through hiring out equipment and paying to use it all the time, but also because simply owning the items will motivate you to be able to use them. After you've spent a whole lot of money on equipment you obviously won't want to then waste that money completely by not using it. Bellow we will discuss binging, wet suits, fat sacs and more that can help improve your experience wakeboarding. Wakeboard – Of course in order to wakeboard, you will need a wakeboard. This is what you will stand on in order to perform the sport. Pick one that suits you well and that's personalised and that will last you a long time – this will be your companion through the rest of the hobby. Lifevest – If you're going to be wakeboarding you'll be travelling at high speeds in choppy, deep water. A lifevest is an important precaution then, and even if you're an excellent swimmer this will prevent you from getting knocked unconscious and sinking that way. Boots/Binding – These are the crucial element that come between you and your wakeboard and make sure you're attached securely without hurting yourself. It's important that your boot and binding are not too tight on your foot as this will cause you pain and worse, could result in a broken knee, ankle or leg if the board isn't released from your foot when you're falling. Some bindings will offer a lace-up feature which allow you to tighten the boot up once your foot is inside. Boat – While it won't necessarily be crucial to buy a boat straight away (and this certainly would be something of an investment…) this is something that you can purchase eventually that will give you the freedom to wakeboard whenever and wherever you like as long as you have another person willing to help you. Furthermore it will have loads of uses of its own and can also be used for barefoot waterskiing and other water sports. Fat sacs – Fat sacs (or fat sacks) are used in order to weigh down your boat which is important for safety when hitting waves and in order to create the best wake. There are other alternative methods you can use here such as lead, however fat sacs are probably the safest. With water being the most accessible element when hitting up the lake, statically buoyant weights are great for helping the boat to stay balanced, but loading up 100 pounds of lead is certainly not helpful. It's also possible to get differently shaped fat sacs for boats that serve purposes such as filling up the bow of your boat or fitting awkward rear compartments. Tow Rope – If you have your own boat then you will need your own tow rope to use it. Furthermore if you have your own tow rope then you can use the boats of friends and others in order to practice your wakeboarding.
