The long cold winter days are finally coming to an end, and although a little late, Spring is here. It is the busiest time of the year for the DIY shops, as we all feel the need to freshen up our homes. It is surprising how a lick of paint can make all the difference. It is, however, the best time of the year to get all our outside work done. The winter frosts can do a lot of damage to our homes. Drives and pathways develop cracks and holes, the strong winds can often do damage to chimney stacks. If the property is fairly old, then chances are, thanks to the weather, re-pointing will be required. Roofs need to be checked for any missing tiles, especially ridge tiles, and wooden doors and window frames will probably require attention. With the good weather, hopefully, on the way, now is the time to get the work done, so we can feel safe and secure next winter. The old saying that "…a stitch in time etc…" really does apply to outside repair work, as it could possibly be an even worse winter next year, and a relatively small job can turn into a big headache if ignored.
