A recent survey by kitchen appliance manufacturer Electrolux has revealed that consumers are just as concerned with how their products look, as they are with how the products perform. The kitchen appliance manufacturer recently asked its customers whether they considered form or function to be the most important aspect to consider when purchasing a new product. The results were almost split down the middle, with many participants finding it difficult to choose whether form or function mattered to them most. Henrik Otto, senior vice-president for design at Electrolux, said that it was natural for customers to consider the appearance of an appliance whilst shopping for products for their own kitchens. However, he added: “Performance could be seen as a prerequisite, with the design of a product the differentiator.” Electrolux has recently launched its new kitchen concept entitled “Heart of the Home”. The aim of this innovative new concept is designed as “a thought-provoking vision of the kitchen of the future”, using an interchangeable cooking surface that changes and adapts according to the user’s needs. You simply place the ingredients onto the surface, and the appliance will provide you with a list of suitable recipes, and allows you to “mark out” your own desired cooking area.
