There isn't any white balance adjustments available around the menu without having entering the ervice menu. The stock THX setting that this plasma contains is not far off the D65 target, but measured too low in brightness. Since the THX settings usually are not adjustable we started with the Custom Image Setting. It was fairly easy given the limited alternatives to dial the G10 in to D6500. Follow these image settings to get there. The TVs strength lies in its white brightness which measured an average luminance of 30.50. This outcome nears LCD TVs in brightness and points to Panasonic's desire to compete with LCD TVs in this area. Color rendition is much more subdued and realistic than the big majority of TVs on the market ? both LCD and plasma. At times colour information appears to lack pop, but this is much more with 480i signal source content. Colors are a lot a lot more saturated with HD content. I actually like the thin gloss frame with bevel rounded edges. The framing bezel is just a touch over 1.5" - Great! The graduated silver bar within the bottom of the frame adds a nice 3-dimensional touch. The stand does not swivel lateral (Panasonic wants to get at work on that choice). Total depth of the 50G10 has increased from previous models to about 4 inches. The Format button around the remote controls this function with options: Just, 4:3, Zoom, Full, H-Full. Panasonic's Just aspect ratio setting does an admirable job of displaying an algorithmically balanced picture image. The menu is very straightforward and straightforward but with ample alternatives except white balance controls. Image options are discrete per input which is usually a plus. The remote is functional, user friendly and rather ugly. There isn't any voice enhanced feature alternative for sound although I found the volume to be sufficient. Sound is a touch muddy and I would suggest every Television contain a voice enhanced alternative as so much broadcast material these days requirements it. Speakers are 10W X 10W with a 15W subwoofer. The A-I sound alternative equalizes sound as a compressor and is beneficial for watching Television by toning down volume increases in those annoying ads. The Viera Cast function may be useful in the future as it connects to Panasonic's version of web Television like YouTube, Picassa, Bloomberg News, The Weather Channel, Amazon Video On-Demand and Panasonic's Concierge Service. Although not extremely useful now, these connection functions are nascent and may possibly be crucial later. The Viera Link feature enables the user to control other viera link capable outboard equipment. The Television has a stock THX setting that puts the Tv really close to D6500 proper from the box.
