Over the time, body building insiders have developed some technical terms that they use to refer to various aspects of body building training. Some of these terms are pure jargon to none body builders. When a beginner body builder joins a local gym, most of the terms used around are not only new to him or her, but some usually sound familiar though the concepts they refer to are not alike to the concepts referred to in ordinary circumstances. The following are examples of body building jargon used mostly during training and to refer to various aspects of workouts. The first is free hand movement. A free hand movement is any exercise done by a body builder in the gym without using exercise equipment. Most free hand movements are done using a body builder’s body weight and they include such exercises as the push-ups and squats that don’t use weights. Another workout term is full. When a body builder is described as full, it means that his or her muscles appear to be pressing stiffly against the skin. It is an important feature for competitive body builders to look full on top of having the muscle mass. Once in a while, you will hear the body builders say that they are going to train the glutes. The term glutes refer to the shortened version a body part called gluteus maximus. This is the single largest muscle among those forming either of human buttocks. So too are the body builders fond of the term guns, to refer to the biceps. Other slang and or technical words used by body builders to refer to the biceps include pythons and pipes. The term hardbody, is another terminology specifically used by body builders to reefer to women body builders who are well toned, defined and muscled. Hardbodies are good looking and have excellent physiques such as the top of the range female fitness competitors. When it comes to the intensity of training, there are several terms that will always be new to a beginner. An example is the acronym HIT. HIT refers to high intensity training, a training method that requires a body builder not to quantify exercises as either more or less; rather, the body builder ought to the appropriate amount of an exercise as it will take to fully stimulate his or her optimal muscle growth. Perhaps we should have started by defining what intensity itself refers to. The term intensity is used by body builders to mean that a training pace adopted by a particular body builder is relatively higher than the normal pace. This might involve moving fast while performing the exercises and taking shorter rest breaks between the sets. Intensity can also mean that a body builder uses relatively heavier weights in his or her training sessions than is normal. Actually, intensity is sometimes used by body builders to refer to the training workload achieved accumulatively within a specific training period after combining heavier weights, high reps, low sets, lesser inter-set rests and fast paced movements.
