The Tango is one of the six styles of the American ballroom. In this article I'm going to explain to you how to dance the Tango as the leader with eight steps. Let's Dance the Tango 1 – Facing your partner stand very close together. Close enough that your torso's are touching. The tang requires you to be closer then in most other ballroom dances. 2 – The leader places their right hand in the middle of their partners back and extends their left arm out with their elbow slightly bent and holds their partners hand with a very loose grip. The partner places their left hand on the leaders right shoulder and of course her right hand in the leaders left hand. 3 – At the first beat the leader moves their left foot slowly forward in a walking motion first placing their heel on the floor followed by their toes. The follower mirrors this motion moving their right foot back with their toes touching the floor first followed by their heel. 4 – With the second beat the leader moves their right foot forward slightly past their left foot. You should have a sensation that your slightly sinking forward. 5 – At the third beat again step forward quickly with your left foot and right after slide your right foot out to the right side and shift your weight to your right leg. 6 – With the fourth beat move your left foot slowly over to your right leaving your left leg slightly bent so that as your feet come together your weight is still on the right foot. 7 – This is a difficult step, shift your weight over to your left foot and: make a clockwise half turn and step ahead on your right foot quickly then move your weight back to your left foot. With your right foot step ahead to complete the half clockwise turn. 8 – Finally bring your feet together by moving your left foot up to your right and go through steps 3 to 7 again.
