Since Queen Victoria married Prince Albert in a white wedding gown with flower girls also adorned in white, the white dress remains the absolutely correct choice for any flower girl. A young girl asked to be a flower girl will most likely be quite excited about her flower girl dress. Sadly, many a flower girl is disappointed to find she will be wearing a white dress. It seems girls would prefer their favorite color, or at least some color! This is especially the case when older girls and bridesmaids are wearing mature, fashionable dresses in color. Today, almost every style of white dress we offer has options to consider. Sashes are no longer sewn into the waistline of the white dress, they now slip through loops at the waist on either side. Sashes are easily removed and replaced with a rainbow selection of colored sashes. Once white rose and camellia floral accents were sewn to each white dress and not intended to be removed or replaced. Most of the styles of white dress that arrive at our shop currently feature flowers on accessory pins that can be removed, repositioned, or replaced. Not only can you choose a sash of any color to add some spice to that all white dress, you can select contrasting or matching floral accents for many. So, you can have your white dress and ‘color it up’, too! We would like to offer some advice for pulling together the entire flower girl ensemble with a white dress and color accents. First, remember, you choose a white dress to remain traditional and perhaps to bring the charm of childhood innocence to your most special event. So, be simple and elegant with color accents on a white dress. Opt for only the sash in color and consider the floral accents remain white. Should the floral accent be attached to the sash itself, as atop a bow at the back, then do choose the flower that best matches your sash color. With an all white dress, no matter the accent color, white shoes, socks, and tights are likely to be most appropriate. The same with gloves and hair accessories, staying with white will present a polished but charmingly traditional flower girl. Consider your choices may actually be very broad for even the simplest white dress for your flower girl. Be mindful to your ceremony and the ambience you wish to evoke. Even today, with the multitudes of color options available, a white sash and white accent flower will remain available for every little white dress.
