Most beginners pick up the guitar so they can learn songs, but often when they realize it isn't as easy as they expected. Some songs are easier to play then others so I wanted to share with you three easy songs to play on the guitar. Each of these songs can be played with basic open chords, so if you haven't learned barre chords yet you'll be able to play these. Heart of Gold A classic acoustic folk song written and performed by Neil Young this song can be played quite simply with only four chords, Em, C, D and G. Rather then giving you the exact tab I feel there is more value in beginners knowing what chords to play and then listening to the song and figuring out what chords to play first. So take a few minutes to listen to Heart of Gold by Neil Young once or twice then start trying to pick out the rhythm. A hint is it starts on the Em then goes to the C. House of the Rising Sun This song is an older one but almost every beginner guitarist takes the time to learn it. The song was originally recorded by the Animals and you can find the track on YouTube, iTunes or maybe your own CD library. There are a couple of ways to play this song but the easiest uses only five chords, Am, C, D, F and E7. The one chord you might not be familiar with there is the E7 chord. To play the E7 simply remove your second finger when playing an E major chord from the second fret on the D string. Wish You Were Here A classic Pink Floyd song that so many people are familiar with and can be played with just six chords: C, D, Am, Em and G. The album version of this song has a nice lead intro but you can skip this for now to just strum and sing along with this classic. To learn more songs on the guitar you may want to boost your skills.
