The Android OS (Operating System) is used on a lot of phones. The operating system first hit the market a few years ago but has exploded in popularity as more and more wireless developers are choosing to use it for smart phones. Smart phones are currently the "it" accessory to have and with good reason. This will probably change as more paid apps get added to the Android app market, but right now Android users are thriftier than people who use iPhones. This might not seem like something to brag about but some people are very proud of this! For the most part, phones that use the Android OS are a lot cheaper than the other smart phones that are being sold right now. An iPhone or Blackberry is typically sold for many hundreds of dollars. At the same time, the cell phone providers are letting their customers get free Android phone upgrades when they renew their contracts. This gives you all of the smart phone options you want without having to spend nearly as much money. Being able to save money is a great way to get customers to choose your company over the competition. After all, who wants to spend a bunch of money if they do not have to? Some studies have shown that, especially with Android phones, men use them more often than women. Across the board men are more likely to use a smart phone than women (the study does not say why this is). The numbers are closer together with the iPhone. Only a little bit more than half of the users of iPhones are men. When looking at the Android, on the other hand, about three quarters of the users are men. Why this is true is a mystery. Maybe this is because men seem to be a lot more likely to run out and buy new technology? This study does not prove one theory or another and does not say why the numbers are the way they are. There are so many reasons to opt for the Android phones over their market competitors right now! The Android OS is super! We say that not simply because we are fans but because it is true. There are updates to the Android system released almost every day and because the system is open sourced everybody is welcome to work on it and make it better. Any day now, the Android phone is going to surpass its smart phone competitors and become the most popular phone available.
