While lake and river fishing can usually accommodate similar baits, there are different factors that need to be considered when deep sea fishing like the size of the lure. Generally, bigger bait will catch you bigger fish and the small lures will usually be ignored by the larger fish. How deep the water you are fishing in is also a factor to take into consideration when choosing lures. Once the water becomes deeper it will also become darker. While many if not most fish have impeccable eyesight, it is still best to use bait that is rather luminous or bright in order to be sure to catch the attention of the fish.
