The rising cost of health care insurance is hindering many from having any type of health insurance coverage. A growing demographic of people who do not have coverage are students and young working adults. Those just starting work aren't making big salaries because they lack experience. Unless they are employed by a company picking up that tab they simply cannot afford it. Sure, most of them are relatively healthy, at least right now but the future may not find them to be so lucky. Most people think that the increase in minimum wage of late seems like a large one but if you think about it on a larger scale for employees working a forty hour week you can quickly see that $80 pre tax is very little to help support them, let alone a family. And if you think that someone who is working a minimum wage job can afford to pay out of pocket for a private pay health insurance plan you would be dead wrong. Even most employers are having a hard time offering the health care coverage they once included in their benefit package. Some are shifting a part of the cost to the employee while others are completing placing that entire burden on the employee. Those individuals who are being asked to get private insurance are suffering from price shock as they discover how much it cost annually for themselves and their families. Even if they can afford to get coverage, they may be disappointed in knowing the coverage isn't as extensive as they would like. Essentially, this group that probably contains mostly healthy individuals has to pay into a pool of sick individuals which means that although they may pay a little less, their health insurance rates are still high. Not having health insurance means that these groups of people are foregoing regular doctor's visits and routine check-ups to keep an eye on their health issues and in the long run health care for this group will probably cost more because of this. And don't think that this has no bearing on everyone else because over time these people will acquire health insurance and they will be more sickly when they enter into health insurance plans or they will remain without health insurance and will use the emergency rooms at local hospitals for care, leaving behind unpaid medical bills which will eventually be absorbed by you. When you think about this group of individuals living without health insurance it is important to realize that this does have an effect on the system and will wind up costing us all more down the road. totally often Group Health Insurance is totally affordable. It is sometimes the only choice for Student Health insurance.
