Now you have a company website you are now looking at getting your site to the top of the search engines and getting as many visitors to you site as possible. Following certain Internet Marketing methods you will enable your website to be positioned where you want it to be. Getting onto page one of Google takes effort and a good analysis of not only your own website but also looking at your competitors and seeing what they are doing to get themselves on page one …..right where you want to be! Once you have decided what keywords you want to be at the top of Google for when people type them into the search query you need to ensure that these keywords you choose are integrated both into you internal and external optimisation for your site. Top Tips For Getting onto Page One In Google * Distribute your keywords across your site content in a natural manner. Ensure that your keywords are featured in your headings and your paragraphs but don’t cram your text so full of the keywords that it looks un-natural and spammy as your site will be penalized for this. * Ensure that for each optimised page on your site your meta tags and page titles contain the keywords that relate to that page. This will tell the search engines instantly what subject each page relates to and help them decide what searches to index each page under. * Where possible add keyword rich alt tags and title tags to your images and links within your web pages. * Ensure you structure your internal linking within your site in the correct manner. This is your opportunity to give a real guide to the search engine robots about what page related to what keyword. Using the keywords as the anchor text within each link you should add a link from each page to point to the one that that keyword is optimised on. Structuring this correctly will also help you to increase your page rank. * Complete a series of external link building from quality sites trying to get as many as possible from industry and area specific sites. Please look at my previous blog on link building for more information on this. * Look at your competitors ( the sites that are already on page one of Google) and copy their web address in to the Yahoo site explorer. This tool will not only show you how many web pages your competitor sites have but it will also show you the amount of external links that they have pointing to their site and what sites these links are featured on. This information is invaluable as it really lets to gauge an idea of what you are up against. It gives you ideas of where you can also build links from and informs you of what kind of level of content you are competing with. * Creating a blog within your website will also help your Internet marketing campaign as this will show Google that your site is constantly adding valuable content and that the site is actively maintained. This is seen very favourable by the search engines and is taken into consideration when they decide where to place you in the search engines. You need to take action and follow these first steps but the main thing you need to remember is that Internet marketing and the work it takes to get onto page one of Google for the organic listings is something that needs to be an on going process. Once you get onto page one you need to continue your SEO and internet marketing work else someone else may knock you site off from that top position that we all want to achieve.
