RYAN KRUGER Ryan Kruger is hailed as the longest running electronic event producer in Canada. As the head of Toronto’s venerable Destiny Event Productions, since 1992 he has overseen more than 600 concerts, club nights and festivals ranging in size from 200 to 20,000, including the infamous three day World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF.com) that has taken place every summer for the past 14 years. During this time, he also founded Destiny’s Artistic Management Network (or DAMN!) which for over five years has handled talent booking for more than 100 top UK and European artists, DJs and MCs in North America. Rounding off his experience in the electronic music industry, Ryan, aka DJOS2, is also a successful DJ and plays clubs and events across North and South America, the UK and Europe. Throughout the early part of his electronic music career, Ryan also found time to graduate with an MBA in Marketing and a Graduate Diploma in Arts and Media Administration from the prestigious Schulich School of Business in Toronto. From here he became marketing director at The Dock’s, one of Canada’s premier entertainment venues, with an indoor capacity over 3,000 people and an outdoor capacity of over 5,000 people. The mid-2000s saw Ryan focus on advertising by day and event production by night. He split his time between Destiny and some of Toronto’s top advertising and marketing agencies where he developed young adult marketing campaigns for clients such as Imperial Tobacco, Labatt (InBev), Sony and Coca-Cola. This was also the time that Ryan created the Cutting Edge Music Festival, which focused on bringing together high quality indie and new rock with the electronic world he had always loved. The annual three day festival is now in its fourth year and has grown considerably from its inception, now attracting over 10,000 people each August. Today, Ryan lives in Toronto and is president of Breakaway Tours, Canada’s largest student leisure travel company and a division of TUI Travel PLC, the largest travel company in the world. He devotes a good portion of his time to his love of music and continues to run the Cutting Edge Music Festival as well as various electronic events throughout the rest of the year.
