Colorado is known for its prime fishing locations. Here are just some places in the northern part of this beautiful state for you to check out the next time you are thinking of planning a fishing trip in the area: AURORA RESERVOI R- Situated on top of the majestic plains of Aurora is the Aurora Reservoir. This gorgeous body of water spans across 820 acres with more than enough good sized fish to set your sites on. Here, you can expect to reel in both rainbow and brown trout, wipers, walleye, crappie, yellow perch and largemouth bass. Open year round, you can find this reservoir on Quincy Avenue just a few miles east of the Gun Club Road. BEAR CREEK- For a stream that would be considered medium in size, Bear Creek certainly has some great catches to offer. You could catch rainbow trout here between 10 and 12 inches. In some cases, there have been even bigger fish taken out of this creek. Don’ t be surprised if you end up with a few bites from the resident saugeye and tiger muskies as well. BI G THOM PSON RI VER- Big Thompson River happens to be popular among both visitors and residents as it is fully stocked with beautiful rainbow trout as well as is home to a healthy population of natural brown trout. With such an abundance of fish here, it is easy to see why this river is a town favorite. The best times to fish this river are beginning in May and lasting through the month of September. Here you will want to bring plenty of salmon eggs, worms and various other lures to take full advantage of the spring runoff. In September, August and late July, flies will be your best bet. BOULDER RESERVOI R- With a breathtaking view of the foothills, this 540 acres of water is a surreal and beautiful environment to plan a fishing trip to. During the spring, the walleye fishing here is excellent. However, you can also catch the occasional crappie, bluegill, rainbow trout, and yellow perch if this is what you are after. CACHE LA POUDRE RI VER- This river starts its journey to the flatlands beginning at the Rocky Mountain’ s Continental Divide. Throughout its path to meet up with the South Platte River, it offers over 60 miles of fishing that is available to the public with plenty of brown trout, rainbow and whitefish.
