Heating and Cooling: Tips To Stay Cool In The Summer

Home Improvement
It’s happened to everyone who owns a home at one point or another. The temperature outside keeps rising. The heat is unbearable. If you want to know how you can stay chill without overloading your heating and cooling system, here are a few tips.

It’s happened to everyone who owns a home at one point or another. The temperature outside keeps rising. The heat is unbearable. To remedy the situation, you push the thermostat further and further down, pleading with your air conditioning system to deliver your home from the merciless swelter. Finally, you find that perfect temperature and you leave it there.

Everything is fine...until the bill comes. You rush to shut off the air conditioning and before long, you’re sitting in front of the TV, fanning yourself with a magazine, wondering if it might not be time to move to Alaska. If you want to know how you can stay chill without overloading your heating and cooling system, here are a few tips.

Ceiling fans are the number one way to adjust the temperature in your house without putting a tax on your heating and cooling system (and your electric bill). They don’t cost nearly as much money to run and they can lower the temperature in a room as much as ten degrees. That can make a huge difference. Installation can be a chore, but there are electrical companies in nearly every locale that specialize in doing home projects such as that. If you are electrically inclined, it can be done as a DIY project.

Besides installing ceiling fans, you should also make sure they are working properly. What does that mean? Well, many people don’t realize this, but fans can rotate in two directions. There is a switch on the side of the fan that changes the direction of the spinning blades. When they turn one way, they are drawing air up out of the bottom of the room. Turned the other way, they force the air down. You’ll want to make sure they are forcing the air down in the summer time, so that you can enjoy the maximum benefits of running the fan.

Don’t underestimate the power of a cold drink when you’re feeling hot. The human body, when not sick, stays at a constant 98.6 degrees, but a cold drink can make you feel like that number has gone down quite a bit. For added benefit, take the drink and press it against your forehead. This can instantly make you feel much better if you’re not sure if you can make it another day without pushing your heating and cooling thermostat back down into the danger zone.

For the best benefit, however, contact a heating and cooling company to come out and look at your system. There may be a number of ways they can increase the efficiency of your air conditioner so that you can experience cold air without breaking the bank.

Find a Kansas City heating and cooling company that has a reputation for quality and effective service. For more information, visit http://www.stuckhvac.com>
