Kids are prone to allergies when they're very young, especially during the 2-5 year period. Their bodies are just developing in that tender age and that is why some kinds of foods irritate their systems and cause them to struggle a lot. The good news is that these kinds of allergies usually disappear once the 2-5 year old threshold is crossed. After this age, kids usually get used to all kinds of food, and should be encouraged to try new foods as well. Of course there may still be a little chance that they are still allergic to certain kinds of foods, but its better to notice the food pattern of the kids so as to recognize these allergies at an early age. The most common signs of allergies at a young age include difficulty in breathing, swelling in the mouth and throat, wheezing, skin rashes and so on. Depending on how old the child is, these symptoms may appear within minutes of consumption of the food. Sometimes it may take hours for these symptoms to appear. In any case, it is better to keep a watchful eye over the child after new food has been consumed. The early signs of allergies should be identified soon in order to avoid any future complications. If you want to know whether your child is allergic to certain foods or not, you can consult a doctor and get some tests done. Testing the skin can reveal some results about the reaction to the food consumed by the child, and this will help determine how serious the allergy is. Testing the blood for antibodies is another method of finding this out. Once you know whether or not your child is allergic, you can decide which kinds of foods you can give to your child. If your newborn child is found to be having a high chance of getting allergies, then you should avoid giving solid foods until the child is at least six months old. Slowly, cereal can be introduced, followed by vegetables. After that, you can even try out meat, but be sure to keep an eye out for possible reactions to these foods. They could be sudden and surprising, so after introducing each new food, just be ready for these reactions, if any. Dairy products should absolutely be avoided until the age of one. They can trigger some strong reactions if the child is allergic, so these are an absolute no-no. There's a very low chance that your child will continue to remain allergic to certain foods even after crossing the age of 5. So until that threshold is crossed, you need to be careful about the diet of your child. Once the child turns 5, you can allow the child to try out the family diet, and can have less worries about what is going to happen. In the rare case that the child is still allergic to particular kinds of foods, you should consult your doctor to find out how much longer this is going to continue. Food allergies in children are common due to fatty, junk food. Immediately allergy testing should be done once some spots are identified on the kids body.
