Southampton and Salisbury solicitors Trethowans has bolstered its Litigation Services Group with the hire of a team of three senior insurance litigation lawyers. The team joins the existing insurance litigation lawyers at Trethowans and has a niche practice dealing with major European Insurers, U.K. Insurers, Claims Handlers and brokers. The team undertake defendant personal injury work as well as dealing with other liability claims, FOS complaints and first party disputes concerning insurance indemnity/cover issues. The team also act for business clients that decide to self-insure or who have a large policy excess. The team’s boutique practice operates out of the firm's Southampton office. Its clients include Van Ameyde UK Ltd, Cornish Mutual Assurance Co Ltd and Claims Adjusters. Kelvin Farmaner, who joins Trethowans as a Partner, heads the team and is praised by in Chambers for his "down-to-earth, straightforward and practical" approach, as well as his "dogged determination" to achieve results for clients. Kelvin is a member of FOIL (Forum of Insurance Lawyers) and was appointed joint head of its national EL/PL special interest group in 2009 and 2010. Kelvin acts for European Insurance companies mainly in connection with defending motor claims cases. Kelvin has also established a niche practice in acting for both domestic insurers defending and for claimants bringing claims involving animals. Bethany Blamire, who joins Trethowans as an associate, qualified as a Solicitor in 2005 and deals with all aspects of personal injury law acting for U.K. and European insurers, businesses and individuals including high value and complex cases. She has been appointed to the Law Society Personal Injury Panel. James Parsons, who joins Trethowans as a Consultant, qualified in 1972 and practiced in London and Thames valley for 25 years dealing with all aspects of personal injury law. The independent legal directories have recommended James for his investigative and negotiation skills.
