You’re finally ready for baby’s first outing – the baby looks precious in her designer outfit, the stroller is top of the line, the car seat is the safest available and you actually have something fabulous to wear. You start out the door when you realize you forgot diapers, wipes, bottles, extra clothes, changing pad and everything else you might need for the baby. No longer can you get spruced up and go out spur of the moment, but at least if you have to carry all those things you can look great doing it. How do you look great? Thankfully, designers and manufacturers of baby items have realized that the diaper bag can look good and be functional too. Actually, diaper bags are more functional now than ever. Diaper bags are available in an assortment of shapes, styles, colors and sizes. Often, moms have one larger diaper bag kept in the car and a smaller one to carry. Even the trendiest mom can find a diaper bag she will carry with pride. It’s not all on the outside. Not only do diaper bags look better, often like any other handbag, the functionality has had an overhaul as well. Instead of one compartment there are special pockets for bottles, pockets for cell phones, hooks for keys, slots for changing pad and wipes, and an area for clothes, diapers and blankets. Essentially, everything you need to keep in the diaper bag has its own place so it is easily accessible. You probably want to keep a blanket, non-perishable snacks, extra toys, pacifiers, rash cream, baby medicines and some plastic bags in your diaper bag as well. Unfortunately, there is yet to be a design that prevents items from hiding inside and being forgotten. The likeliest culprit is the diaper bag left in the car regularly. It’s not helpful to get somewhere when your child in a size 4 diaper needs changing and your diaper bag only has size 2 diapers. Or maybe your toddler soiled his clothes and you’re so relieved you have your diaper bag in the car, only to realize the extra set of clothes is size 6 months.
