Paris is world famous for its numerous important museums and travelers find that there is simply no way to see all of them in their entirety in a short visit. One could spend many days in the Louvre museum alone. Other world-class Paris museums include the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Carnavalet, Centre Georges Pompidou, Cluny, Delacroix, Picasso Museum (closed for renovations until 2012), Musee de L’Orangerie, Musee D’Orsay and Rodin Museum. All of these contain important collections and many of the world’s great artworks. Fortunately, for the art enthusiast visitor, there is the Paris Museum Pass, a pre-paid card, which gives access to over 70 of the best Paris museums and tourist sites that comes in a two-day, 4-day and 6-day version. The prices range from 32 euros for the 2-day pass, 48 euro for the 4-day pass and 64 euro for the 6-day pass. The cards are for consecutive day visits and are activated when the visitor enters the date on the card. It’s a good idea to wait until you’re sure you’ll be visiting before entering the date. Most museums are closed on either Monday or Tuesday, so be sure to check opening hours and days of operation. The cards are available at museums, Metro locations and tourist offices. The card can also mean not having to wait in long queues outside museums. The ParisPass is another attractive pre-paid card that allows entry to the Louvre and over 60 other attractions and includes free Metro and public transport access. There is also a new pass called the ParisComboPass which is more inexpensive. The museums of Paris offer everything from a view of the famed Mona Lisa and other works by da Vinci to Impressionist paintings by Monet, Renoir and Cezanne and the works of Picasso. Rembrandt and other Flemish painters can be found in Paris museums along with vast collections of antiquities, Medieval and Renaissance works and sculptures from ancient Greece to the works of Rodin and other modern sculptors. There are accommodations all over Paris, from modern luxury hotels like the Hotel Charles de Gaulle Hilton to grand old Hotels in the centre of the city and even budget accommodations for the art student on a budget, but whether you stay in the Hilton Hotel CDG or a youth hostel, the great museums of Paris await your patronage and are sure not to disappoint.
