The surgery is the only treatment to remove the appendix(appendectomy).Peritonitis appears when the appendix ruptures and spreads infection to the abdomen.The patient may wait for several hours at home or in the hospital for a surgery decision arrives.The surgery can be done by one of two ways-laparoscopic or traditional. When there is appenditicitis a patient should not take laxatives or eat solid food.People leave hospital 1 to 3 days after surgery.In the case with people who have laparoscopic surgery the activities become normal in less than 2 weeks and for those with a traditional appendectomy the activities are normal in 3 weeks.Once arrived at home the patient should verify if there are infections provided from the incisions.A doctor should be called when fever,redness,swelling,pus or pain in the lower abdomen occur and also when the patient is not able to eat food after 5 days.
