I recently(finally) replaced my aging MacBook Pro with the new model 2010, which includes a built-in 500GB hard drive. I feel that more space on your breathing, but I know from experience that this is a short-term situation. Especially with digital video, this free space quickly consumed.
iMovie 09 keeps projects and events(including raw materials imported images) on the internal drive Mac by default, but at some point youll probably want to transfer old movies to the extra hard drive. To make them available to iMovie later, but you can not just copy them in the Finder. Rather than do it in iMovie. Heres how:
1 In iMovie, make sure that you can see the volume belonging to any attached hard drives. Select the View menu. ->Disk Group Events, or click the disk icon in the upper right corner to view the events size
2 Drag the project to an external volume. If you want to move the project and related files, click the Copy Project dialog box, in this case, only a small project file is moved, leaving a large video file on an internal hard drive. Or Copy and events project to move anything.
Note that dragging a draft copy of this file, so youll end up with one version of the inner disk and duplicate to an external drive. If you prefer to move the files to delete the originals after copying, hold down the Command key while dragging. Options in the window read, instead of copying the Move.
Note that the entire event is copied or moved, even photos that are not currently appear in the film.
You can also copy or move individual events without affecting the projects, which use their images, drag the event to another volume in the Library event. Projects do not forget where your video files. However, if this number goes offline, then you will not be able to edit the material.
