Every religion has its own creed that defines the spirit world or Summerland (the word coined by Andrew Jackson Davis to be used as a substitution of spirit world) in one way or another. Spiritualists define spirit world as an abode of spirits. They believe it has existed since the dawn of time and will continue to exist for as long as the deceasing of humans does not come to a halt. Many have strived to solve the enigma as to what happens to the human soul after its death although no body has reached to a consensus as yet attributing to the assortment of theologies in this regard. The answers to the questions we usually associate with the spirit world like; what does the spirit world looks like? , how spirits live in harmony in spirit world? Or do they live in harmony at all? were definitely a sticky wicket for spiritualists until the development of mediumship. Mediumship is the process whereby a human is used as an instrument or medium to communicate with the discarnate. It is the communication between a people on earth with that in spirit world. It has served to provide answers to numerous questions deeming to the science of occult. Every religion brings up its own theory about how life after death is but very few actually deny with the theology of life after death. This implies that it is certain that there is a life after death but the nature of this life is something our curiosity can not help finding. Spiritualists have endeavored to find about the spirit world but most verdicts they obtain is often contradictory. For example some might say that food is a part of the spirit world while others would say that food is not consumed by any of the spirits. The striking similarity between the reports of everyone who is communicating helps to envisage a picture of Summerland. Death is defined by many as the birth of soul. It is when the soul frees from the body and takes along with it its memory, inclinations, attachment, knowledge, wisdom, habits and experiences.
