Before you even think about tweezing your eyebrows, make sure you have a good set of tweezers. They should be clean, sharp and comfortable to hold. Practice pushing them together to make sure the ends meet evenly. Mismatched ends will make it very difficult to hold and tug the hair out. Stainless steel tweezers are recommended, because they are generally non-allergenic and won't be prone to rust or other contaminants. You should disinfect your tweezers after each use with a little rubbing alcohol. When you're ready to tweeze your eyebrows, you should start by washing your face. Use hot water or steam to open the pores around your eyebrows to allow for easier and less painful hair removal. You should also wash your hands with your facial cleanser, to prevent oil and dirt from contaminating your face. Brush the eyebrow into shape so all the hairs are facing their natural direction. This allows you to find the strays that need to be removed. Not all hairs need to be plucked. In fact, you can easily create a nice shape by trimming your brows with a small pair of manicure scissors. Therefore, trim as necessary before tweezing. Use one finger to pull the skin tight just above the brow itself. Tweeze one hair at a time, as trying to do a few will not only be difficult, but also quite painful. Pull each hair out in the direction that it grows to allow for smooth removal. A quick tug should be sufficient, but it may take some practice to get the hang of it. Once you've completed your eyebrow tweezing, rub the eyebrow area with an ice cube. This will not only help lower any swelling and redness, it also reduces the irritation and stinging as well as closing the pores. You should wait about an hour after tweezing to apply make up to give your skin time to relax and recover. You might notice some lingering redness after you've tweezed, but this is perfectly normal and will go away on its own in relatively short time. Make sure you clean your tweezers and store them in a clean, dry space to keep them in shape for the next time you need them. Discover more gorgeous beauty tips and advice at our beauty website.
