Real estate business takes place in every city of the world. As long as there is land or homes or some other property available, people will be there to either buy it or to sell it. Canadian Real Estate Association or CREA is one of the largest single industry trade associations, representing 97,000 real estate agents, brokers, sales-people etc working through more than 100 real estate Board and Associations. People who have to come in real estate business have to register with the CREA and follow the Realtor’s code. This code outlines the right and the fair way this business should be conducted and the way the customers should be treated. In addition to that this code also outlines the payment methods and the maximum amount of fee the broker or an agent is entitled to after every specific type of property. Violation of this code can lead to punishment and even confistication of the license to practice this business along with a hefty fine. The CREA main role is that it represents and promotes the interests of the members, enhances members’ professionalism and ability to succeed, and advocates policies that ensure real estate property rights and ownership. In addition to this there are some other duties that CREA performs like, firstly it tries to maintain an organizational structure of the CREA, there are trained volunteers and professionals who deal with the problems and effectively address the expectation of the members throughout Canada, Secondly, CREA promotes, protect and safeguard all certification and designs marked with this association. Thirdly, they play a role in maintaining a relationship with the federal government to monitor all the public policies that affect this industry. Fourthly it helps the members to become more familiar with the competition act and tell them how to apply it to their business activities. Fifthly CREA collects all the data like economic, social, infrastructural etc and analyze it to find out that how it affects the prices of the houses, property, and how it affects the real estate industry. Sixthly, CREA tries to formulate and promote professional standards of business practice, integrity, ethical and fair conduct among the membership. Seventhly, this organization tries to provide an interactive way or forum for the analysis and communication of the industry issues, trends and association benefits. Without a proper check and balance, this system might become quite corrupt, so to prevent that from happening and for the industry to work smoothly an organization of this type is needed, thus CREA is also trying to do the same, along with some other duties that it performs as mentioned above.
