The fabric of your evening dress is as vital as the style and design. You have to wear it in an easy way but the fabric needs to match the style. Here are some briefings of the most common evening gown fabrics. • Silk is a soft, natural fiber, and one of the most luxurious fabrics available. Its threads are used to generate a wide range of other fabrics. • Satin is actually a very thickly woven silk with a pearlescent sheen on one side. • Duchess satin combines silk and rayon. This makes it is more reasonable than pure silk satin. • Shantung is a heavy fabric made from either cotton, silk or synthetic fibers. It's a little rough in texture. • Chiffon is a delicate, transparent fabric made from either rayon or silk. • Silk dupion is created by weaving together two rough silk threads in different colors to get a crisp, shimmering fabric. • Tulle is usually used for tutus and veils. It's a netting made from nylon, silk or rayon that is starched stiff. • Taffeta is made from either silk or synthetic fibers. The result is a stiff fabric with a soft finish. • Brocade is a heavy jacquard-woven fabric that's formed with metallic threads for texture and pattern. • Organza is a pure silk or synthetic material that's stiff, but less coarse than tulle. • Rayon is a manufactured fabric with a soft quality that makes it similar to silk, but more affordable. • Polyester is a synthetic fiber that can be woven into most fabrics to lower the entire cost of the material. • Damask is related to brocade in that it has designs woven into the fabric, but it's lighter in weight.
