Rome hotels are not as expensive as one would think; actually hotel prices in Rome are lower than what they once were just a few years ago, mostly because of how the economy is. This means that taking a well deserved vacation to Rome is not a farfetched idea. Here is a little tip to keep in mind though, try not to get a hotel that is close to the centre to Rome because the closer you are to the centre the more expensive the hotel will be. There are many buses that you could take to get to the centre of Rome, and this will save you money. Now let’s go over some things you can do in Rome without going broke. Anybody visits Rome needs to see ancient landmarks, such as the Colosseum! The Colosseum is one of the world's most well-known monuments, and is known for staging battles between gladiators, slaves, prisoners and even wild animals. Tourists will love walking around the remains of the Colosseum. The Colosseum is an affordable tourist destination and does not cost a lot of money to enter. Catching a glimpse of the Pope is something many people dream of doing, and if you are in Rome on a Sunday then make your way to St. Peter's square as the Pope frequently appears from his apartment's window to give a blessing. Although there is no sent schedule, you may want to be in St. Peter's in the morning hours, or you can go be part of the Wednesday audience as the Pope makes his weekly speech, and this is free to do. Shoppers who are on a budget can still enjoy some serious shopping while in Rome. Shoppers need to go to the Via del Corso, known in English as the Magnificent Mile. It is called this way because it is one long strip that joins Piazza del Popolo to Piazza Venezia, and there are so many shops that cater to all types of budgets, so shoppers can still shop in Rome without worrying about going broke. Many restaurants that are very affordable are also found along the Magnificent Mile.
