Postpartum Weight Reduction

{Sarah is a pregnant mother of three who continues to breast-feed her 18-month-old

Jennifer is an expecting mother who is currently breast feeding her fifteen month old son

Angela, an expecting mother, currently has a sixteen month old son who is breast feeding}. {After each of her pregnancies, she has had difficulty losing weight

Subsequent to her first pregnancy, she had a hard time reducing her weight

After her previous pregnancy, it was difficult for her to return to her weight prior to pregnancy}. {With all of her responsibilities, weight loss isn't a priority

With a myriad of issues to attend to, weight reduction is not her highest priority

With an abundance of pressing concerns, weight loss does not top the list}. {Still, she wishes that, once this pregnancy is over, she will be able to return to her pre-marriage weight

However, she still longs to return to the weight she was at before having children

Nonetheless, she would really like to return to the weight she was at prior to having children}.

{The average woman gains more than 25 pounds during her pregnancy

Most women gain more than twelve kilograms during pregnancy

The majority of women gain more than ten kilograms while being pregnant}. {The procedure of childbirth may result in a weight loss of up to 14 pounds, which means that new moms still have considerable weight to lose once they leave the hospital

During the process of bearing a child, six kilograms of weight may be lost, this still leaves a significant amount of weight to lose to return to the weight prior to pregnancy

During child birth, six kilograms of weight will be shed, which means there is still quite a bit of weight to lose subsequent to child birth}. {However, some women simply assume that this "baby fat" will never go away

Some women are under the assumption that the excess weight can not be shed

There are numerous women who assume that the extra weight they are carrying will never go away}. {Yet, it is entirely possible to lose weight during the post-partum period

However, it is well within the realm of possibility to lose this extra weight

Nonetheless, it is possible to return to your weight prior to pregnancy}. {That being said, it is not advisable to attempt to achieve quick weight loss subsequent to child birth

Although this extra weight can be lost it is not wise to attempt to achieve quick weight loss}.

{A number of medical experts recommend easing into a weight loss program after the birth of your baby

Most physicians do not recommend losing weight to quickly postpartum

Most doctors do not advise engaging in a rapid weight loss diet right after giving birth}. {This means that you will not start dieting until about three months following birth

Thus, you should not commence your weight loss diet until at least two months postpartum

Therefore, it is not advisable to start your weight reduction diet until at least two months after giving birth}. {You should combine a low-fat diet with moderate exercise in order to achieve weight loss

After the two months, you should start a low fat diet with a moderate amount of daily exercise

When you are ready you should start a low impact exercise routine and a low fat diet}.

{Don't expect instant results

Do not anticipate instantaneous results

Your results will not occur instantaneously}. {It will take you a good nine months to get back to your weight prior to pregnancy

It may take from nine months to a year to return to your original weight

It can take up to a year, postpartum, to return to your weight before pregnancy}. {A go-slow approach is best because you need to give your body time to recover after childbirth

You need to proceed slowly at first to allow your body time to recover postpartum

Proceed with your diet slowly at first to give it a recovery period subsequent to giving birth}. {Certainly, you might be able to realize rapid weight loss, but you might be sacrificing valuable nutrients as a result

You may be able to achieve rapid weight loss, however, you will not get the nutrients your body needs}.

{Interestingly enough, breastfeeding actually enhances weight loss

It is interesting to note that breastfeeding can lead to further weight reduction

It should be noted that breastfeeding can actually help the process of weight loss}. {The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has found that breastfeeding leads to the release of hormones which enable your uterus to return to its normal size

Researchers have found that breastfeeding prompts the release of a hormone called oxytocin, which cause the uterus to contract to its original size

Physicians have learned that breastfeeding, prompts your body to release oxytocin, a hormone that causes the uterus to contract and return to its size prior to pregnancy}. {However, breastfeeding alone won't bring down your weight

Nonetheless, breastfeeding by itself will not reduce your weight to pre-pregnancy levels

However, do not expect breastfeeding alone to reduce your weight to what it was prior to being pregnant}. {You need to combine it with a sensible diet and a moderate exercise program

You still need to engage in a nutritious, low calorie diet, and exercise

You must still have an excellent, low calorie diet and engage in regular exercise}. {Keep in mind that you need to have at least 1800 calories a day while breastfeeding in order to keep yourself and your baby healthy

Bear in mind that you will need a minimum of eighteen hundred calories per day while you are breastfeeding to provide adequate nutrition to the baby and yourself}. {Still, stay clear of junk food during this period

Do your best to avoid junk food in the period of time

However, you should avoid junk food, like soda and chips, during this time}. {You should rely on food with high nutritional value to maintain the proper level of calories each day

Eat foods with an abundance of nutrition to obtain the nutrients and calories you require

Only eat foods that are high in nutrition to obtain the calories you need}.

{There are many good reasons to exercise during the post-partum period

There is an abundance of evidence pointing to the benefits of postpartum exercise

Reasons are plentiful to engage in exercise postpartum}. {In addition to helping to accelerate weight reduction, exercise can help alleviate post-partum depression, improve your mood, and boost your confidence

Postpartum exercise can assist weight reduction and elevate your mood to fend off postpartum depression

Exercising postpartum will help get your body back in shape and improve your mental state}. {Exercise can also "clear your head" so that you're better able to meet the demands of motherhood

Exercise can help improve you energy levels and mental state so you can meet the demands of child rearing

An exercise routine will improve your psychological outlook, and boost your energy levels to better equip you to deal with the demands of caring for a baby}. {You might consider joining a "Mommy and Me" exercise class so that your baby can exercise right along with you

You might want to entertain the though of joining an exercise class for postpartum mothers}. {Another helpful hint is to enlist the help of a friend or relative to act as your exercise buddy so that you'll have some emotional support while exercising

If you have any friend who are postpartum, an exercise buddy can help motivate you}. {An added bonus of exercise is that it should boost your energy level, which is quite important when battling the fatigue which comes from caring for a newborn

Exercise will help increase your level of energy to better equip you for the demands of child rearing}.

{Your diet should generally be low-fat but not fat-free; vitamin rich; and high-fiber

You should have a low fat, high fiber diet, that does not include simple carbohydrates and sugars

The diet you consume should be free of junk food and saturated fats, it should also include a lot of fiber}. {Under no circumstances should you go on a fad diet

Do not entertain the idea of starting any type of fad diet

Don't resort to any type of dietary extremes}. {Such a diet could be quite harmful to your health and could actually slow your recovery from childbirth

These types of diets can do damage to your health and impede your postpartum recovery}. {It's a good idea to set weight-loss goals, but don't go overboard

Set weight loss goals for yourself, but don't be overly ambitious

Set reasonable weight reduction goals, and try to adhere to them}. {Recognize that there's a limit to the amount of weight you can lose during a given period of time

Understand, that it is not practical, or healthy, to lose weight too quickly, at this point

Bear in mind that you cannot return to your weight prior to pregnancy overnight}.

{The time right after the birth of a child can be quite challenging, taxing both your physical and emotional strength

The period of time subsequent to giving birth is very physically and emotionally challenging}. {While it is certainly a good idea to eat healthy, you'll need to pace yourself as far as weight loss is concerned

You must engage in a healthy diet, and take your time in getting your weight back down to normal}. {Over time, you should be able to lose the weight you gained during your pregnancy

Within a year, you should be able to return to your weight prior to pregnancy

In less than one year, you will be able to attain your weight before pregnancy}. {In fact, you might find that you're actually healthier after your baby is born

If things work out well, you may actually look and feel better than before you were pregnant

If you play your cards right, you may actually feel and look better than prior to your pregnancy}.
