Whether relaxing with a beer, shopping at high end stores or seeing the sights of the city Prague 1 offers everything a traveller could want. Prague 1 is the main district of Prague and encompasses the historic Old Town. My suggestion is to start at Namesti Republicky. This area is home to the Palladium shopping centre as well as the start of the coronation route that Czech kings once walked on their way to taking the throne. This area has loads of small restaurants as well as some of the nicest hotels in Prague 1. If you walk down Celtna Street you will pass by the Powder Tower. This tower gained its name by storing gunpowder in the 1800's. You can enter the tower and climb the stairs to gain a stunning aerial view of Prague for a nominal fee. After exploring the tower, continue down Celtna Street into Old Town Square. This square has some of the finest restaurants and hotels in Prague 1. Hundreds of tourists gather around the astronomical clock at the top of the hour in order to see its 30 second performance. After all of this walking you should stop and enjoy a nice Czech meal. My suggestion is Lokal, a new Czech restaurant with a communism era theme. Walk down Dlhoua Street in order to reach this Czech Gem. After finishing lunch, walk across the street to one of the newest Czech pubs called The Beer Museum. Upon entrance, you will be greeted by the longest row of taps in any pub in all of Prague. Thirty of the finest Czech beers wait your tasting. Ask the wait staff for help if needed! After an evening in The Beer Museum people usually want to do one of three things: eat, sleep or party! In order to do any of these things you should take the nearby tram 14 to Wenceslas Square (5 stops, make sure you buy a ticket!). Here you can exit the tram and grab a sausage at the famous 24-hour Wenceslas Square sausage stand. If you're in the mood for dancing you can head over to the world renowned Lucerna night club across the street from the tram stop or you can find one of the many hotels in Prague 1 that line the streets. After a solid sleep you can do the whole thing again the next day!
